Ballroom Dancing Article

St. Louis, MO (PRWEB) October 22, 2013
It’s a fact: one of the best and proven ways to relieve stress is through exercise. It’s also true that it’s hard to stay relaxed in today’s world of constant actions, emotions, and interaction. According to a Harvard Health Review article (http://www.health.harvard.edu/newsletters/Harvard_Mens_Health_Watch/2011/February/exercising-to-relax), exercise – such as ballroom dancing – can help by relieving mental stress.
Dance Pizazz, the St. Louis area funnest, friendliest dance studio (http://www.dance-pizazz.com), understands this need for relaxation to improve and maintain health and wants to share three tips on how dancing can bring about relaxation through:
1. Promoting Chemical Balance: Simply put, dancing has been proven to reduce the levels of stress hormones while stimulating the production of endorphins. These endorphins are responsible for post-workout feelings like optimism and relaxation. The more regular the exercise, the more endorphins are released to aid relaxation and regulate the body’s cycles.
2. Deepening the Mind-Body Connection: Mental stress is known to manifest itself physically in symptoms such as muscle tenseness, cramps, rapid breathing, and even lightheadedness. Dancing regularly, though, can bring about a deeper mind-body connection by reducing stress. This awareness is key to maintaining good overall health and keeping negative symptoms and even diseases at bay.
3. Fun and Exercise: Ballroom dance is a stellar workout that is also fun! It allows the body to work many muscle groups in a rhythmic and repetitive fashion, which increases stamina and strength. It also allows for dancers of any level (beginner, intermediate, or advanced) to unleash their creativity. What better way to both exercise and promote relaxation than while listening to good music?
As a body becomes stronger through exercise, it can also become more relaxed. Ballroom dance can help anyone with low-to-high levels of stress achieve balance on and off the dance floor. Check out http://www.dance-pizazz.com for other ways dancing has helped many achieve their healthy body goals.

Ballroom Dancing For Boys

Dance Blvd. Presents: Ballroom Benefits For Boys

PRESS RELEASES

Jennie Szela, president of Dance Blvd Dance Studio in Middle Island and 18 year veteran in the Ballroom World sees the many benefits Ballroom Dancing ...
Middle Island, NY - June 13th, 2013 - Jennie Szela, president of Dance Blvd Dance Studio in Middle Island and 18 year veteran in the Ballroom World sees the many benefits Ballroom Dancing provides for children, especially boys.
Dancing with the Stars has really helped to break through the stigma of boys taking dance classes. The pro dancers on that show didn’t get where they are without taking lessons throughout their formative years. Believe it or not, dance –any form- is a sport. It provides stamina, strength, flexibility and coordination.

Another great aspect of ballroom dancing is the socialization skills that are developed between couples and other dancers on the floor. It will help boys become less shy and more confident in themselves. They are sure to be the popular ones at the school dances. Ballroom dancing teaches etiquette and is classy and sophisticated.

Dance Blvd. is offering free ballroom classes for any boy that registers for any other form of dance, including Hip Hop. Jennie is ecstatic to expand the love and passion she has for ballroom and share it.

To register you can contact Jennie from Dance Blvd at 631-252-6530
. Fall registration is going on now - please visit their website for details.

If you would like more information about this topic, or to schedule an interview with Jennie Szela, you may contact her at 631-252-6530, or by email.

Hudson obsessed with ballroom dancing

Kate Hudson is obsessed with ballroom dancing and loves the 'sexy' outfits.
The 'Almost Famous' actress - who has sons Ryder, nine, with ex-husband Chris Robinson, and Bingham, 21 months, with fiancé Matt Bellamy - loves the 'sexy' pastime and enjoys splashing out on new outfits to appear 'almost naked' on the dancefloor.
She admitted: 'Oh my God, I love it. I've learnt the cha-cha and the tango.
'I'm having dresses made. Those colours and flounces are totally my guilty pleasure. The whole thing's an excuse to go out on to the dancefloor looking almost naked. With sequins. It's so sexy.'
Kate began taking dance classes when she was just four-years-old, and believes the hobby will always keep her in good shape, citing her mother Goldie Hawn, 67, as a good example.
She added in an interview with the new issue of Britain's Elle magazine: 'I mean, look at my mom, she looks amazing.'

Words of the Dance

East Coast swing: Also called American or triple-step swing due to the rhythm of the basic triple step, this dance consists of six- and eight-count patterns. East Coast swing, derived from Lindy Hop and jitterbug, is the base for all swing dances.
Foxtrot: A smooth dance noted for being the first dance to incorporate into the rhythm a combination of slows and quicks.
Merengue: An energetic Latin-style march. Originated in the Dominican Republic.
Rumba: A Latin dance characterized by Cuban motion done to romantic Latin songs and music. A slow, sensuous, romantic dance.
Salsa: A hot Latin dance. When performed correctly, it displays a lot of shaking, shimmying, and hip action.
Samba: This is the official dance of Brazil. Characterized by “bounce” action, it is danced to fast music in 2/4 time.
Tango: Originated in Argentina. A progressive dance that moves along the line of dance, it is characterized by staccato movements of the feet and flexed knees, and stylized poses that highlight its dramatic style.
Viennese waltz: A fast ballroom dance in 3/4 or 6/8 meter, often associated with the music of Johann Strauss.
Waltz: The best known of all the ballroom dances, waltz is a progressive dance using rise and fall and danced to 3/4-time music. Slow waltz evolved from the fast-paced Viennese waltz.
West Coast swing: A slotted swing dance in 4/4 time, characterized by its smooth and linear style.

5 TIPS BEFORE HITTING THE SALSA NIGHT CLUB

By now you have probably taken ‘um-teen’ lessons and feel confident enough to go to the night club but still get nervous to be out there on the dance floor amongst all the great Salseros and Salseras! Yes?
Here are a few hidden secrets of social dancing every club goers should know to ensure success and steer away from embarrassment.
1. Clean up and dress nicely before hitting the club
What you don’t hear is what people are whispering after they dance with you. If you smell nice, look nice and have fresh breath, then all they have to talk about is your great dancing!
2. You don’t need a wing-man or girlfriend to have a good time
Many girls and guys go to nightclubs alone and have a great time. Head over to the bar after you walk in and order yourself a drink. Starting with a little “liquid courage” i.e. alcohol, sometimes helps loosen up the inhibitions. While you are at the bar, look relaxed and smile as you look at the dance floor. You are bound to catch a few glances and smiles and maybe find your first dance partner.

3. Etiquette in asking or being asked
As a man, it is more expected that you do the asking. Look for ladies that smile or look your way, or moving in their chair to the music or standing by the dance floor. Approach politely (not waving her onto the dance floor from across the room) and hold out your hand as you are asking. Smiling usually helps a more positive response. Also bring her back to where you asked her after the dance is over as opposed to leaving her stranded on the dance floor.
As a lady, it is more common to flirt and use body language to show a partner that you are interested in dancing with him. It is not uncommon to ask a man to dance, but it is considered more feminine and less aggressive to wait for the man to ask. I know this sounds a little archaic but the Latin culture is quite swayed toward sexy flirtation and it makes it more intriguing for the men if ladies let them do the asking.

4. Where you should dance on the dance floor
If you are a beginner, it is more common to go toward the center of the room. The advanced dancers tend to stay on the outer edges of the dance floor and are quite experienced at not hitting others as they dance so closely to the tables and standing crowd.
As a leader, you should walk in front of your partner as you lead her on and off the floor so that you can keep her safe from flying elbows and wild stomping feet.

5. Buy your dance partner a drink
It is not only polite and generous to buy your dance partner a drink at the bar before or after a dance, it also is great support to the clubs that host the Latin dance clubs who keep this dance form alive. As you may be aware, salsa dancers tend to not drink as much as the average club goer, so Salsa Clubs tend to go out of business if they do not get enough bar sales. The promoters work hard and the club owners usually have a passion for Latin dance, but they need to make the bottom line to keep your favorite clubs open, so support as much as you can.
